Price revision of modified silicone polymers
―Kaneka increasing the price by 10 yen or more per kilogram for shipping on and after March 1―
February 27, 2018
Kaneka Corporation (Headquarters: Minato-ku, Tokyo, Japan; President: Mamoru Kadokura) is revising the sales price of modified silicone polymers (product name: “Kaneka MS polymer®” and “Silyl®). For shipping on and after March 1, Kaneka adds 10 yen or more per kilogram to the current price.
Due to the increase of oil and naphtha prices, polypropylene glycol (PPG) and propylene oxide (PO), main raw materials for the modified silicon polymers, are increasing. Also, shipping charges and utility costs are increasing, which is a part of causes reducing the earnings.
Kaneka determined that we cannot deal with the upward trend of raw material costs by self-efforts and cannot avoid the price pass-through to customers although we have been striving to improve business income by reducing costs.
