Price revision of polyvinyl chloride resin
―Kaneka increasing the price by 15 yen or more per kilogram for shipping on and after January 16―
December 20, 2017
Kaneka Corporation (Minato, Tokyo, Japan; President: Mamoru Kadokura) is revising the sales price of polyvinyl chloride (PVC) resin. For shipping on and after January 16, Kaneka adds 15 yen or more per kilogram to the current price. The price revision applies to all types of special PVC resin including PVC paste in addition to those for general use.
The oil and the domestic naphtha prices have just shifted to an upward trend and this trend exerts an influence on raw material price and utility expenses, which is expected to continue for a while. In addition, distribution cost is also increasing .
In Japan, PVC demand will remain firm. Investment in construction is growing for Tokyo Olympic Games in 2020, and investment in the infrastructure, especially for replacement, also becomes active. In Asia, such as India, investment in the infrastructure also continues to be active as well. Due to these facts the demand-supply balance of PVC will remain tight.
Under such circumstances, Kaneka judged it is necessary to revise sales price to fulfill our responsibility toward our customers for the stable product supply.
