Price revision of foamed polystyrene resin
―Kaneka increasing the price by 20 yen or more per kilogram for shipping on and after March 1―
February 22, 2018
Kaneka Corporation (Headquarters: Minato-ku, Tokyo, Japan; President: Mamoru Kadokura) is revising the sales price of foamed polystyrene resin (product name: “Kanepearl™”). For shipping on and after March 1, Kaneka adds 20 yen or more per kilogram to the current price.
The foamed polystyrene resin is widely used as packaging cushioning for fish boxes and electronic products.
Due to the global economic expansion and the trend of oil prices at high level, styrene monomer, a main raw material for the foamed polystyrene resin, is increasing. Also, logistic and utility costs are increasing, which is one of the causes reducing the earnings.
Kaneka determined that we cannot deal with the issue by self-efforts and cannot avoid the price pass-through to customers for future stable supply although we have been striving to improve business income by reducing costs.
