Kaneka opens Kaneka US Material Research Center Facility established within Texas A&M, and opening ceremony held on October 24

Kaneka Corporation (Osaka, Japan; President: Kimikazu Sugawara) opened a new R&D facility in a rental space at Texas A&M University* (Texas, USA) in order to pursue open innovation on a global scale. The opening ceremony was held at Texas A&M University at 3:30 p.m. (local time) on October 24 with around 30 people in attendance, including Professor H.J. Sue, College Station Mayor N. Berry and Bryan Mayor J. Bienski.

* A state university with its main campus in College Station, Texas. Established in 1876, it is now the seventh largest university in the United States with more than 50,000 students. It is a top class North American research university that engages in many joint research projects with and receives funding assistance from the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) and the National Science Foundation, among others.

The center is under the umbrella of Kaneka Americas Holding, Inc. (KAH), a holdings company established in April 2012 for the purpose of overseeing the business in the United States and promoting the strengthening of Kaneka’s global development. It will actively promote R&D activities in close cooperation with the R&D Division with the objective of enhancing advanced material products and development of the production process. Additionally, KAH will formulate and implement growth strategies from a local viewpoint while incorporating the latest R&D achievements of the United States, a gathering place of cutting-edge basic technology, in a timely manner to further accelerate Kaneka’s global development.
