These results were presented at the 7th conference of the International Coenzyme Q10 Association held at Seville, Spain on November 8-11, 2012.
Twenty patients (5 males, 15 females, average age: 36.8 years old) with chronic fatigue syndrome were supplemented with Ubiquinol (150mg/day) for 2 months. Fatigue, sleep quality and depression, oxidative stress and anti-oxidative activities and arithmetic tasks were evaluated before and after 2 months of the supplementation.
As a result, depression symptoms, sleep duration and the performance in the arithmetic task were improved after the supplementation, and these improvements were dependent on increases in plasma coenzyme Q10 levels. And the increases in plasma coenzyme Q10 levels correlated with decreases in plasma oxidative stress. It is noteworthy that decreases in oxidative stress and in energy production are related to the mechanism on chronic heart failure syndrome.
