Kaneka Corporation (Headquarters: Minato-ku, Tokyo; President: Minoru Tanaka) and Taisei Corporation (Headquarters: Shinjuku-ku, Tokyo; President: Yoshiro Aikawa) was awarded the FY2023 Minister of the Environment Award for Climate Action from Japan's Minister of the Environment (Development and Commercialization Section/Mitigation Field) for the joint development of T-Green Multi Solar, photovoltaic power generation system integrated with building external walls and windows.

As part of the promotion of climate change measures, the Ministry of the Environment organizes the Minister of the Environment Awards for Climate Action to honor individuals and organizations that have made outstanding achievements in climate change mitigation (measures to reduce greenhouse gas emissions) and climate change adaptation (measures to avoid or reduce damage caused by climate change impacts).

The introduction and spread of renewable energy through various methods is being promoted in order to achieve a carbon-neutral society. However, due to a decrease in suitable locations for mega-solar installations and electrical grid constraints caused by power generation, it is necessary to develop efficient solar power generation facilities with local production for local consumption, where electricity is generated and used within the same facility, as well as ways to utilize this energy. T-Green Multi Solar is a solar cell module integrated with building exterior walls and windows that can be used as an energy-creating technology in new and existing buildings to realize urban ZEB (Zero Energy Buildings). It can also be used as an emergency power source in the event of disasters, enabling self-sufficient and decentralized energy systems.

In the future, we will work with Taisei Corporation to further promote (and develop) the system by renovating existing buildings, expanding its application to condominium balconies, and increasing color variations. Furthermore, in addition to detached homes and condominiums, we will actively propose this system for a variety of uses and installation locations, and we will contribute to the establishment of a decarbonized society by enabling the transition of buildings to ZEHs and ZEBs.
