Kaneka Corporation (Headquarters: Minato-ku, Tokyo; President: Minoru Tanaka) will increase the sales prices of Foods & Agris Solutions Vehicle yeast products by 34 JPY/kilogram (17 JPY per 500 g) for shipments on and after July 1.May 10, 2022
The cost of crude oil began rising last year, and the soaring cost has driven major increases in utility, packaging material, and logistics costs. The price of the syrup used as a medium when producing yeast has also risen precipitously due to high global demand for use in the production of bioethanol and the devaluation of the yen. The procurement costs of nitrogen sources and phosphorus sources, auxiliary materials used in yeast production, have also risen.
We endeavored to improve business revenue through initiatives such as restricting costs. However, having reached the limits of what the company can do, we have determined that these price revisions are unavoidable for the sake of steady product supply from here on.
We may have to consider further price revisions if the price of naphtha continues to increase due to the unpredictable international situation.
