Shopping bags made from KANEKA Biodegradable Polymer Green Planet™ *1(referred to below as Green Planet™) by Kaneka Corporation (Headquarters: Minato-ku, Tokyo; President: Minoru Tanaka) have been adopted by JALUX Inc. (Headquarters: Minato-ku, Tokyo; CEO: Masashi Shinohara). Green Planet™ is a biodegradable polymer developed by Kaneka and is 100% derived from plants. With its excellent biodegradability in a wide range of environments, Green Planet™ has been certified as biodegradable in seawater by “OK Biodegradable MARINE” *3 and is contributing to the reduction of marine pollution. JALUX operates BLUE SKY stores in 27 airports across Japan in addition to a wide range of other businesses. JALUX has declared that it is working on environmental issues and the achievement of a Recycling-based society that promotes sustainability management such as using environmentally friendly materials, and then as part of it, has adopted Green Planet™ to contribute to reducing the effects on the environment. These newly introduced shopping bags have the same excellent durability as conventional commodity plastic. Kaneka and JALUX will work on developing various products using Green Planet™ in the future.
Based on our mission of “Kaneka thinks Wellness First”, Kaneka provides value globally as a solutions provider. Through the deployment of Green Planet™, Kaneka will continue to help solve the problem of environmental pollution.
