Kaneka Corporation (Headquarters: Minato-ku, Tokyo; President: Kazuhiko Fujii) announces that the Kaneka OLED Desk Lamp*1, which uses Kaneka OLED lighting panels manufactured and sold by Kaneka received the Kids Design Award in the Design Category to contribute to the safety and security from children at the 18th Kids Design Award (hosted by the Kids Design Association, a specified nonprofit organization)*2.October 2, 2024
The Kids Design Award was established in 2007 as an award system with the aim of selecting and widely publicizing excellent work that addresses social issues related to children and childcare, from among products, services, spaces, activities, and research that meet the objectives of “ensuring children live safely and with peace of mind,” “nurturing children with rich sensitivity and creativity,” and “creating a society in which it is easy to give birth to and raise children.”
Kaneka OLED lighting gives little glare due to its soft and surface-emitting light and is less likely to cast shadows because the diffused light illuminates objects evenly. The light also has a unique wavelength which enables highly visibility regardless of the low illumination, and because it contains little blue light, it becomes easier to reduce eye fatigue, and it has the effect of making it more likely to maintain your posture when working, making it easier to sustain concentration*3. These features are expected to contribute to the safety and security of children in learning environments and reading situations, and this is why we were awarded this prize.
In addition, the “Children's Wellness Creation Business Consortium*4” in which our company participates, a joint industry-government-academia initiative, also received the Kids Design Award in the Design Category for Creativity and the Future of Children*5.
Based on our mission of “Kaneka thinks 'Wellness First'.”, Kaneka provides value globally as a solutions provider. In the future, we will continue to make the most of the features of OLED lighting, and we will also focus on children's growth, actively working to create healthy rooms for children and better learning environments for schools and cram schools.
